You will have noticed the step up in difficulty in each transition from KS1-KS4 but the move to KS5 is a larger step If you feel like you have a strong grasp of the GCSE criteria for your subject of choice then you’ll have acquired the base level of knowledge needed for your new course. However, if you indulged in some last-minute cramming before your exams then you may not feel as confident as you could!

When you start a new course, you’ll have a lot of things to think about. There will be new people, classrooms, curricula, topics, methods of working and standards. That’s without mentioning the fun things like making new friends and social circles that you’ll form as you work out which fields of study you most enjoy.

When Should I Start Preparing for A Levels?

Upon completion of your GCSEs, it’s important to allow yourself some time off. Mental decompression and physical relaxation can go a long way to helping you reset and feel fresh for the new challenges ahead. 
We’d recommend 2-3 weeks before you start your preparation cycle. This should present you with enough time to make a successful transition between courses/levels. A period of 3 or more weeks for preparation towards your A Level course should be enough time for most.
